Abstract

Etiologic identification is a prerequisite to prognosis in the parkinsonian syndrome, as certain symptoms tend to predominate in each group and the response to treatment varies. Despite the lack of a really satisfactory treatment, it is our duty to bring to focus on this condition our armamentarium of drugs, psychologic support, and all the strength of our personality to help the patients carry on as long as possible with their normal activities. Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride is the most generally useful drug for control of rigidity, tremor and akinesia.
