Abstract
As yet the application of computers to the problems relating to clinical medicine is largely in the exploratory stage, but the possible ramifications of computers in this field are great. The characteristics and functions of a computer are described and some examples are given of programming as they would relate to analysis and control of factors in diagnosis and treatment, storage and retrieval of patient records, and possible application in hospital management. The limitations as well as the potential benefits of computers are emphasized.
