Abstract
Application of experimental observations in the medical and surgical care of patients with pulmonary hypertension includes precise control of pH and blood gas, use of aminophylline and tolazoline as pulmonary arterial vasodilators, vigorous commitment to the relief of obstruction in pulmonary embolism, and the enigmatic surgical therapy in special forms of pulmonary hypertension, such as unilateral pulmonary arterial coarctation.
