The Medical Assistant and Emotional Disturbed Patients

, M.D.

Abstract

The medical assistant will find it easier to deal with emotionally disturbed patients if she keeps in mind the reasons behind their irrational behavior. Warmth, courtesy and friendliness are correct and necessary; anger, curtness and rudeness are never justified. Intuition, tact and judgment must be exercised, particularly in conversations on the telephone.
