Abstract

Many diseases of the ear can and should be treated in the office. Even conditions which require hospitalization or operation may be properly evaluated and diagnosed in the office. Problems most often seen are foreign bodies in the ear and external otitis. Office management also usually is adequate for most cases of both serous and suppurative otitis media. Thus, office management is a significant part of the treatment of otologic diseases, for the patient as well as the physician.
