Regional Ileitis

Abstract

Surgical resection is the treatment of choice for regional ileitis and carries little or no risk to life, but the rate of recurrence is high (30 to 50 per cent). A plan of prolonged medical therapy is therefore essential. Oral prednisone therapy given for an indefinite period is recommended, supplemented by intramuscular injections of ACTH for exacerbations.
