Abstract
Cervical leukoplakia is seen in one of every 70 new gynecologic patients. The disease is not in itself premalignant, but associated carcinoma in situ occurs in 27.9 per cent of the cases. Conization is mandatory in patients with leukoplakia. The white plaque recurs in 90 per cent of these patients after excisional biopsy, however, and they should be considered candidates for hysterectomy.
