Abstract

It should be possible to establish an accurate diagnosis of cervical spondylosis in most cases. When diagnosis is accurate, the disorder can be corrected surgically. A “nofee” approach to psychogenic, potentially compensable pain is described. The patient is advised that organic disease cannot be found, that symptoms are thought to be functional, and that treatment will be given without charge if symptoms persist.
