Abstract
Although artificial insemination now presents relatively few technical difficulties, insemination performed with donor sperm (A.I.D.) has raised complex legal, moral and emotional problems. No laws exist pertaining specifically to A.I.D. Courts have handed down conflicting opinions concerning the status of A.I.D. participants and their issue. Some have argued A.I.D. is equivalent to adultery. Husbands and wives must resolve conflicts about an A.I.D. child before they qualify for therapy. Donors must be carefully selected. For the physician, the actual process of A.I.D. may be the least difficult part of the procedure.
