Abstract
Group psychotherapy is proving to be one of the most successful of all technics for treating alcoholism. However, the best results are obtained when it is used concurrently with such aids as Alcoholics Anonymous, disulfiram, occasional tranquilizers or energizers, treatment of the families, environmental manipulation and, at times, vocational guidance.
Because group psychotherapy is so beneficial, it should be instituted as soon as possible, preferably on the first day the patient is seen.
