Factors Influencing the Spread of Cancer

Abstract

Many people are beginning to believe that cancers are developing continuously in all of us. We have to be very careful not to destroy the immunologic resistance of the host. Immunosuppressive therapy with cytotoxic agents may sharply reduce or completely abrogate any immunity that a patient may have to his cancer. Corticosteroids may have the same effect. By removing uninvolved regional lymph nodes or subjecting them to radiation, one may remove the patient's immunity to spread of cancer.
