New Machines in the Office Practice of Cardiology

Abstract

A carefully detailed medical history remains the most important single method of cardiovascular evaluation. Careful physical examination with selective listening for cardiac sounds and possible murmurs is essential. Neither of these simple clinical methods can or should be overshadowed by laboratory methods. Examination under stress of exercise often yields additional information and is feasible in office practice. Special laboratory technics are often required to supplement clinical examination and are usually best done in a hospital facility.
