Abstract
Three devices for measuring the Achilles reflex have shown good results in differentiating euthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The Kinemometer has been most effective in distinguishing between hyperthyroid and euthyroid conditions. The use of an inexpensive exophthalmometer has been helpful in following proptosis associated with thyroid disease.
One minute blood sugar level determinations may be made in the office with special reagent strips. These strips can be an effective screening test for diabetes and are helpful in diagnosis of hypoglycemia as a cause of coma, diagnosis and management of diabetic acidosis, and office management of diabetic patients.
