Abstract
The gynecologist's “general practice” is often the general physician's “specialty.” Both have a noteworthy opportunity to give superior care to the aging female patient. Topics considered include the ill-defined role of the elderly in our society, the physiologic aspects of aging, predominant diseases in older age groups, medical and surgical treatment for gynecologic problems, and the risk of malignancy.
