Abstract

Present methods of observing and recording human physiologic responses during anesthetization and operation are inadequate for analytic and statistical validation of clinical and biologic variables. A total physiologic information-handling system is necessary to collect valid, objective and timely data in the operating room. The system should include biologic sensors and associated electronic systems, data-processing machines, and display devices. Use of the collected data will make possible better patient care and facilitate future research.
