Epidermoid Cancer of Anus and Perianus

, M.D.
Pages 210-216 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Epidermoid or squamous cell cancer is the most frequently encountered of the anoperianal malignant lesions. Perianal epidermoid cancer does not readily metastasize to the regional lymph nodes and responds to conservative treatment—local excision, irradiation and electrocoagulation. However, anal epidermoid cancer may metastasize early and widely. The treatment of choice is radical proctectomy.
