Abstract

Intravenous pyelography is an excellent means of investigating renovascular abnormalities. The technic has been modified in many ways. A minute-sequence study followed by a constant-infusion study coupled with use of a diuretic appears to be the best urographic examination available at present. Among the radiographic observations pertinent to a diagnosis of significant renal arterial or arteriolar disease are renal size disparity, abnormal contour, abnormal nephrogram, and hypoconcentration and hyperconcentration of the opaque medium in the renal calyceal structures
