Abstract
Abdominal arterial disease may be manifested by massive occlusion, minor infarcts which may heal or undergo ulceration, or abdominal angina (the “small meal syndrome”). The much-debated concept of abdominal angina arising from stenosis or occlusion of arterial ostia has been amply substantiated. The pain of abdominal angina is qualitatively quite different from other pains associated with the ingestion of food.
