Abstract

Any disturbance of the cornea hinders the formation of a clear visual image. Therefore, accurate identification of corneal lesions at an early stage is of paramount importance. Inflammatory diseases, dystrophies, disorders of fat and protein metabolism, and direct contact with deleterious chemicals cause most of the corneal lesions. Prompt treatment is essential to avoid loss of vision.
