Hospitalizing the Emotionally Disturbed Child

, M.D.
Pages 399-406 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Many etiologic factors contribute to the clinical picture of childhood syndromes in which emotional problems accompany an organic pathologic disorder. In some cases psychologic processes produce severe physiologic dysfunction. As physicians have become increasingly aware of these complicated problems, diagnostic procedures have become more elaborate. It is sometimes essential to hospitalize the child for differential diagnosis, as well as for treatment. This paper elaborates the indications for hospitalization for diagnosis and treatment.
