Abstract

Distress edema, like duodenal ulcer, labile hypertension or migraine, can develop in an individual as a response to emotional stress. In the case reported here, a woman patient with distress edema gained as much as 20 lb a day during times of emotional crisis. The cause of her edema was confirmed after careful study of a record of morning and evening weight kept by the patient over a five year period.
