Abstract

A behavior pattern (type A) characterized by an overwhelming sense of time urgency and competitive drive may be one of the most lethal of the suspected causes of coronary artery disease. Diet control, cholesterol-lowering drugs, exercise, and avoidance of cigarettes are virtually useless in forestalling the disease unless this behavior pattern is altered.
