Second of two parts

Abstract

The amount of vasopressor given to a patient in shock secondary to acute myocardial infarction should be no more than is necessary to obtain the minimal essential perfusion pressure. Therapeutic emphasis on vasodilators has been advocated, but vasodilators that are intended to increase tissue perfusion are effective only if perfusion pressure is adequate.
