Defining “Hospital Infections”

, M.D.
Pages A-119-A-123 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

What constitutes a “hospital infection” has never been adequately defined. Standards vary from one institution to another, so that valid comparisons cannot be made. A “hospital infections committee,” equipped with reasonable, standard guidelines, is a necessary adjunct to any hospital. Such guidelines are suggested and their application to specific problems is discussed.
