Pages 493-499 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

The discovery of effective antifungal agents (griseofulvin, amphotericin B, tolnaftate) has greatly simplified treatment of the superficial mycoses commonly seen in children. This presentation is limited to information which may be of use to the practicing physician. The importance of identification of the causative organism is emphasized. The infections considered include tinea capitis, tinea circinata, tinea pedis and candidiasis.
