Abstract
With rare exceptions, xanthomas indicate a disorder of lipid metabolism. Recognition of the type of xanthoma (tendon, planar, tuberous or papulo-eruptive) can provide a clue to the underlying disturbance.
The cutaneous manifestations of uremia are numerous. Prominent among them are pruritus and changes in skin color. Others are hemorrhagic phenomena, urea frost, and eruptions that may or may not represent reactions to drugs.
