Abstract

Degenerative arthritis, in the form of chondromalacia patellae, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, often affects the knee joint.

In all forms the cardinal symptom is pain, and treatment is directed toward relieving pain and alleviating secondary symptoms. Clinical features, conservative treatment and surgical procedures are described.
