Meningitis and Sixth Cranial Nerve Palsy

Abstract

This clinicopathologic conference relates the story of a middle-aged alcoholic who was found in a comatose condition in an apartment. Diagnostic clues include a sixth nerve palsy, fever, monocytosis and a turbid spinal fluid with 50 percent lymphocytes, low sugar and high protein.
