Abstract

Generally, chemotherapeutic agents are effective at some time in the course of such chronic diseases as granulocytic leukemia, polycythemia vera and lymphocytic leukemia. This is particularly true for chronic granulocytic leukemia, in which busulfan is the drug of choice. Physicians must be prepared to cope not only with the disease itself but also with such complications as hyperuricemia, infections and anemia.
