Recognizing and Treating Plasma Cell Neoplasia

Abstract

Early plasma cell neoplasia may go unrecognized until electrophoresis is done. Patients with generalized disease will have symptoms and an M-protein in serum or urine. With advanced myeloma, renal insufficiency, refractory hypercalcemia, profound anemia, or plasma cells in peripheral blood may be present. Once the diagnosis is established, chemotherapy should be started
