Abstract

Infants with deformed ears often do not hear well. Since this loss is conductive, both hearing aids and surgery may help. Infants with one deformed ear should have an audiologic examination at one year, but surgery should not usually be performed until the child is six. If both ears are deformed, the child should have hearing aids early so he can learn to speak properly.
