Keeping the Cold Shoulder From Freezing

, M.D.
Pages 163-168 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Such conditions as cuff tears, arthritis, bursitis or cervical root lesions may keep a patient from using his shoulder. This inactivity may produce cold shoulder. If the physician can diagnose cold shoulder early, he can prevent its consequence—frozen shoulder—by stressing exercise and by distending the synovial cavity with a 50 cc mixture of saline, lidocaine and hydrocortisone acetate or other steroid.
