Mr. Freeman and the Diagnosis of Malnutrition

Abstract

A recent USDA survey points out that many U.S. households have “poor” diets. Unfortunately, conclusions in the report are based on unscientific recommended dietary “allowances” and a misunderstanding of the difference between “allowances” and “requirements.” Recommendations, if followed, would result in increased obesity and hypercholesterolemia while leaving the real problem of iron deficiency untouched.
