Abstract

Clinicians sometimes rely too much on the exactness of laboratory tests and may overlook problems influencing the results, such as physiologic variations and extraneous factors. Also they may fail to consider that many tests are interdependent, that some are better for diagnosis than others, and that ordering many tests and repeating them often does not necessarily increase diagnostic yield.
