Abstract

Massage is an art that requires skill and practice. Technics include stroking (superficial or deep), compression (kneading, squeezing or friction), and percussion (hacking, clapping, beating or vibration). Used properly and in the right therapeutic setting, these technics can help relieve pain, reduce swelling, and mobilize contracted tissues.
