Abstract

An elderly man with a history of a heart condition and a recent stroke was hospitalized because of hiccups and weight loss. The leading symptoms and signs in addition to hiccups were fine densities and linear streaking of the lungs, ulcerative lesions of the alveolar ridges and soft palate, and lethargy. Atrial fibrillation and right hemiparesis also were present. The patient's mother and two sisters had died from tuberculosis.
