Regulating Severe Adult Diabetes With Oral Antidiabetics

Abstract

Physiologic and clinical evidence increasingly supports the use of oral agents rather than insulin in a growing proportion of diabetic patients. Although initial therapy with oral agents has often failed, a new method of rapidly replacing insulin with a combination of chlorpropamide and phenformin has successfully regulated patients with relatively severe adult diabetes.
