Abstract

In July 1964, a 45 year old woman noticed stiff, swollen fingers and then progressive thickening of the skin of her chest and arms. By January 1965, she had typical scleroderma and a breast mass. Three months later she died of respiratory failure and carcinomatosis. This course raises the question of whether scleroderma, like dermatomyositis, is related to malignancy.
