Abstract

A Monteggia fracture can be treated by open reduction and intra-articular fixation with wire if it is recognized within three months after injury. Fracture of the talus is extremely uncommon in childhood but can be routinely treated with prolonged protection. Intramedullary fixation of a long-bone fracture is recommended only in extremely rare cases.
