How I Treat Pityriasis Rosea

, M.D.
Pages 269-270 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Although pityriasis rosea runs a self-limited course, its inflammatory lesions itch. Control of the itch with antipruritic agents and sedatives eases the inflammation. Control of the inflammation with steroids, bland creams or coal tar preparations soothes the itch. Ultraviolet light, occlusive and wet dressings, and oatmeal baths also have a place in therapy.
