How I Treat Plantar Warts

, M.D.
Pages 215-216 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Plantar warts in areas that do not bear a major portion of body weight are treated with cautious electro-desiccation and curettage. Warts in major weight-bearing areas are removed with weekly paring and application of 40 percent salicylic acid plaster or 60 percent salicylic acid ointment. Treatment is repeated until the wart is completely excised, usually within three to five weeks.
