Abstract
X-ray examination is often helpful in establishing a diagnosis of acute appendicitis in infants and young children. An appendicolith is demonstrable in more than one-third of infants and at least half of older children with acute appendicitis.

Edward B. D. Neuhauser
This month Dr. Edward B. D. Neuhauser joins POSTGRADUATE MEDICINE as editor of the radiology departments. Dr. Neuhauser is radiology-in-chief at Children's Hospital Medical Center and clinical professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, He also is consultant in radiology to several hospitals in Boston.
Dr. Neuhauser attended the University of Maine and Johns Hopkins University of Marine and Johns Hopkins University, and received his M. D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He has been president of the American Roentgen Ray Society, the New England Roentgen Ray society and the Society for Pediatric Radiology, and is a member of numerous other radiology organizations. He has twice received the gold medal awarded by the American Roentgen Ray Society.
