Crystal-Induced Arthritis

Abstract

The acute arthritis in gout and in pseudogout is associated with microcrystals of monosodium urate and calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate, respectively. These conditions share certain clinical features and not infrequently are both present in the same patient. There is no evidence at present that they are related metabolically
