Reiter's Syndrome

Pages 160-167 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

When a young man complains of urethritis, conjunctivitis or arthritis, the physician should suspect Reiter's syndrome. About three-fourths of patients will have urethritis first, but other symptoms usually crop up within one to five weeks. Gonorrhea, especially when it precipitates an attack of rheumatoid arthritis, may be difficult to tell from Reiter's syndrome.
