Abstract

Fasting blood sugar and urine glucose determinations are inferior diagnostic procedures for diabetes, but if positive they must be followed by definitive tests. The best procedure for diabetes screening is the two hour postcibal blood sugar test. Oral glucose tolerance testing is best for definitive diagnosis.
