Abstract
Of viruses that can cause fetal malformations, three—the viruses of herpes zoster, cytomegalic inclusion disease, and rubella-attack the eyes of the fetus or newborn infant. Herpes virus has produced cataracts, cytomegalic virus frequently leads to chorioretinitis, and rubella regularly produces many defects.
