Senile Macular Degeneration

Abstract

When the physician sees an aged person who is slowly and steadily losing vision, he should consider degeneration of the posterior eye segment, or senile macular degeneration. The four categories of the disease are macular edema with hole formation, disciform macular degeneration, macular (pigmentary) degeneration, and macular edema with neovascularization.
