Abstract
More than 1000 blood banks in this country have received accreditation under a program of voluntary inspection maintained by the American Association of Blood Banks. Inspection is available to both members and nonmembers. On-site evaluation by an experienced blood banker is of much greater value in assessing the “complete transfusion service” than is reliance on proficiency testing.
