Abstract

A 37 year old white mechanic who had smoked for 20 years had been coughing up blood-tinged sputum for two weeks and had had enlarged, painful breasts for two months. X-rays showed a mediastinal mass. What does this story suggest—a primary mediastinal tumor or a metastatic hormone-producing neoplasm?
