Rock Music and Hearing

Abstract

The physiologic and psychologic effects of rock music are a controversial topic in the current emphasis on “noise” pollution. Noise-induced hearing loss apparently varies with the individual's susceptibility to loud sounds, and is similar to presbycusis in the elderly. Harmful psychologic effects have not been proved.
